Running an online store isn’t just about listing items — it’s about giving your customers choices. Whether you're selling T-shirts in three sizes, candles in five scents, or prints in multiple finishes, product variants are key. With Wix, adding those variants, customizing prices, and tracking inventory is simpler than you think.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to make your store smarter and more shoppable.
Step 1: Log In and Head to Your Product Dashboard
Start by logging into your Wix account, navigating to your dashboard, and selecting ‘Store Products’ under the Wix Stores app.
Click ‘+ New Product’ and choose whether it’s a physical, digital, or service-based product.
Step 2: Add Basic Product Details
Fill in the essentials:
Product Name
Description
Images & Videos (Use high-quality images that show off different angles or styles)
Category/Collection
Pro Tip: Make the description both informative and keyword-rich for better SEO!
Step 3: Add Product Variants (Size, Color, Type)
Now the fun part! Under the ‘Variants’ section:
Click ‘+ Add Options’
Choose options like Size, Color, or create your own (e.g., “Roast Level” or “Finish Type”)
Input the choices for each option (e.g., Small, Medium, Large)
Wix automatically creates every possible combination — these are your product variants.
Step 4: Set Prices Per Variant
Once variants are created, you can:
Assign individual prices to each variant
Mark some as on sale
Set a default display variant
Example:A Small T-shirt might be $25, but an XL version could be $30.
This helps you offer flexibility without cluttering your shop with duplicate products.
Step 5: Track Inventory Like a Pro
Turn on Inventory Tracking for each variant:
Set how many items are in stock per option
Decide whether customers can purchase out-of-stock items (backorder)
Automatically hide variants when they sell out
This feature is critical for avoiding oversells and disappointing customers.
Bonus: Add SKU, Weight & Shipping Settings
For each variant, you can also define:
SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) for tracking
Weight, useful for calculating real-time shipping rates
Custom shipping rules, if some items ship differently
Step 6: Preview & Publish
Before hitting publish:
Preview your product page on mobile and desktop
Ensure variants are working and prices are correct
Test different combinations as a customer would
Then click Publish — and just like that, your product with all its variants is live!
Final Thought
Offering multiple product options doesn’t have to be a hassle. With Wix, managing variants, prices, and inventory is smooth, smart, and scalable — whether you're selling fashion, food, or fine art.
If you want to turn casual browsers into confident buyers, mastering variants is the first step.
